Format of Play
The NCCGA divides the nation into conferences, which are in turn divided into divisions. The major competitive stroke play season occurs in the fall of every year. The teams who place in the top of their divisions tournaments are invited to the conference tournaments, and the teams who place in the top of their conference tournaments are invited to the National Championship. Each team plays eight players, and the top five scores from round one are added to the top five scores from round two in order to determine to total team score. The spring season does not contain as many tournaments as the fall and is used to incorporate different styles of scoring, such as captain's choice and best ball.
